Volunteer Registration

The Nepean City Soccer Club is directed and managed as a volunteer organization. New talent is required annually to continue the program.  Even if you nothing about soccer, there are many ways to volunteer.  NCSC encourages all parents to help where they can to make your child's experience even better.

Why is NCSC making volunteering mandatory
We have received many inquiries as to why the club has created a mandatory requirement for all families to volunteer for at least one volunteer position. The reason for this is the club is committed to keeping its registration fees the lowest in the city (in some cases ¼ the cost of other clubs) but to do this, we need enough volunteers to keep the club running. The only alternative is to hire people to do these jobs and then, of course, this would be reflected in an increase in the fees. The NCSC is a non-profit organization and so the fees are calculated at cost. We are proud to be a club that strives to make soccer accessible to everyone, regardless of a family’s income.

Over the past few years, we have had trouble recruiting volunteers which has resulted in a strain on the current volunteers as they have been required to take on more work to keep the club running. That being said, we don’t have enough volunteer positions for every member of the club so not everyone that will be volunteering for positions will be called upon. It is only if we have a need for a volunteer in a particular position that we will call upon the people who volunteered for that position during registration.

We understand that many of our members have very busy schedules and volunteer for other organizations. Not everyone can commit to coaching a team for an entire summer. This is why many of the positions listed do not require a lot of time or effort. For an example, there is are options to volunteer for the check-in table at Representative Player Evaluations or assist with the year-end recreational tournaments which require minimal time and effort. These volunteer roles would complete a volunteer’s requirement for the year.

We have yet to meet a volunteer who doesn’t look back on their contribution to the club with fondness. Try it and you will see!
