* Important Note:
Teams in the U12/13, U14/15 and U16/17/18 divisions will be entered in the
South Side Soccer League (SSSL) and will play 11 a side soccer on
full size fields. The SSSL is league formed by area clubs that do not have
sufficient numbers to have their own house league or recreational divisions.
Teams from various clubs are pooled together to form one league. Current
members of the SSSL include, Nepean Hotspurs, Ottawa Internationals,
Kemptville Soccer Club, Smith Falls Soccer Club, Merrickville Soccer Club,
North and South Dundas Soccer Clubs. NCSC teams will travel to these
communities for 3 or 4 games during the season. The SSSL is not a
competitive league. House League or recreational rules still apply. The SSSL
have divisions for both girls and mixed teams.
For the most part mixed teams are all boys. But please note, due to
availability of players in some clubs, mixed teams may consist of both boys
and girls. |

Teams:
Teams are
balanced by skill, age and sex, as appropriate for the various age groups.
Where possible, requests to play on the same team are honoured. In addition
we try to form teams from the same geographic areas to facilitate car
pooling. Please note that it is not possible to satisfy
everyone's needs.
Parent's
wishing to change teams, must find another parent willing to change teams
with them. Coaches, Coordinators and the Director will not attempt to
facilitate changes.
Children have
been grouped by two year age bands for reasons of safety and to equate skill
levels. No child may play below his age level. A player will be
moved up, only if, in the opinion of the coordinator and the coach, the
child is too strong for their age group. Parent's schedules,
transportation problems or to play with friends are not grounds for moving a
child up an age group.
Schedules:
When the season's schedules are finalized, coaches will
distribute them to the players. Go to the
Schedules page to view last year list
of game nights and schedules. From year to year we try to keep the age
group on the same night. The game days shown below are preliminary and may
change based on field availability which we will not have until late April.
Field Time:
All
players are entitled to equal playing time, regardless of skill level or the
score of the game. Field
location maps and schedule are available on our club website:
Field Maps
Standings:
No
standings or game scores are maintained. The emphasis is on fun, skills,
fitness improvement and sportsmanship acquisition and development.
Cancellation:
Games
should be cancelled only for electrical storms or very heavy rain. Parents
& Coaches should assume that the game is to be played unless they are
telephoned & informed otherwise. Cancellation will be determined by the
Coordinator or by the referee at the field.
Referees:
The club
will try to provide referees for all games above the Mite level. For
the other games, conscript an assistant coach, a knowledgeable parent or
older player to assume the referee duties. Team coaches usually share the
Mite referee duties. Make sure you have an assistant coach in the field
while you only referee! Only one adult should be on field
actually coaching.
The club
referees are generally children two or more age groups above the age group
they are refereeing. In many cases this will be their first experience at
running a soccer game. Under no circumstances are coaches, players,
managers or parents to harass a referee.
Problems
with referees should be reported to the Referee Coordinator or the Director
of House Leagues by the Coach.
Uniforms:
The club
will provide game shirts, socks and shorts. The players must have shin
pads, and may choose to wear soccer shoes (recommended for Tykes, and
above).
Players
must provide their own shin guards. No player may participate in the
game unless wearing shin guards. Shin guards must be worn at all
times on the field of play. They must provide a
reasonable degree of protection, and, must be covered entirely by the stockings
Players
should also generally have a sweat-suit and their own water bottle and
adequate water supply. Bug spray may be necessary at the start of the
season.
Players
shall not wear anything that endangers themselves or other players, such as
watches, earrings, necklaces or other loose jewellery. Only soft brimmed
hats are allowed. Baseball caps should not be worn. The “button” at the
top can also injure the player if the ball makes contact with it.
Medallions:
The club
will provide an individualized medallion at the end of the season for each
player.
End of
Season Tournament:
The Club
runs a one-half day tournament on a week-end for each age group at the end
of the season. All teams play a minimum of three short games.
Future
Competitive Players:
At the
Tyke and Atom level the Club attempts to identify players that have an
interest and the potential to play at a competitive level. This year we
hope to bring together these players for some additional practices and an
end-of-year tournament. Hopefully these players will form the nucleus for
next year’s U10 and U11 competitive boys and girls teams. Your coordinator
will be providing more information on this topic over the course of the
summer
